About my opponents

What kind of characteristics did Zacharia Dalzell feel as a player in the second game? What kind of tennis should I play to win?

Zacharia Dalzell / Won: 6-3, 6-4

He is a short tennis player, that has a good poster when he hits a forehand and is very fast at running, but his serve is not that powerful so it was easy to return. He isn’t that good at drop shots so I was able to stand back and hit the ball at the front. He is not that consistent so if you keep returning the ball to the middle deep he will make an unforced error.

About my Tennis

How did I feel about my body during the match?

I wasn’t able to run/move as fast as yesterday and the day before. I had a little bit of a headache, maybe because I had too much sugar, but anyways I think I won today because of technique, to be honest, he would have gotten less game from me if I used my footwork more.

What was my skill during the match?

Serve

I used slice serve in the beginning because I was hitting up and it was easier for me to rotate my racket to the left. When I was hitting flat I did me tose right and I hit like Suzuki, and it worked very well. I also tried to do front and back weight shifting before serving.

Forehand

Maybe because the racket was heavy, but I wasn’t really able to swing my racket with confidence, like before. I did many frame shots, that went out and my grip was changing to extreme western when I hit the ball, and it was uncomfortable.

Backhand

I didn’t hit many backhands today in regular rallies because I try and go around with my forehand. And the only time I used my backhand, was when I was forced to use my backhand like when I was getting shaken around, and I was only tapping the ball deep.

Volley

I used a lot of volleys, and I know where was Zac going to hit so it was fun and it was very helpful using volley today.

How did I feel about my mental health during the match?

In the beginning, I was calm and concentrated, but when time goes on, my body started feeling heavy and I tripped on the floor when my back, thank goodness it wasn’t a big deal but what I’m trying to say, it that my stamina is getting low, so I have to do fitness and get my stamina back, then I may concentration, and my relaxed feeling will come back.

What was my confidence about during the match?

I wasn’t confident in anything but I was trying to get the ball in deep more and shake him around and for some reason when I was losing in the 2nd set I still felt like I am winning easily and that it was easy for me to win, it was because when he gets to point it was a long rally, and when I get point it is only a few rallies, so I had more advantage.

What was I worried about during the match?

I was worried about me hitting my forehand out and doing a frame shot, and to be honest I was too focused on the actual point that I wasn’t thinking about the point, and I think it is a good thing.

Looking back on the match, if I could coach (advice) myself in the match, what would I like to convey?

I would say take off the weight and make the racket lighter so that I can swing it fast because this tip helped me change this game, and I realized this on the 2nd set ending and if I knew this in the beginning I would have won more easily.

What do I want to improve and practice before the next game?

I think I should have woken up earlier and done a proper warm-up more and that I should have known the details of the racket earlier. So prepared earlier when you don’t know much about the detail.

I also want to practice approaching shot and a smash when I am going forward.

Today I hit most of the ball 60~70 percent, but I want to be able to do this without thinking this and when I am losing in a match because I tend to rush and hit the ball with my arm when I am losing in a match.
