About my opponents

What kind of characteristics did Nikolai Consedine feel as a player? What kind of tennis should I play to win?

Nikolai Consedine / Won: 7-5, 6-2

He is a 14 years old boy and he has a big 1st serve but he did a lot of double faults because he has a double 1st serve. He has an eastern grip, and he uses that grip for forehand slices too. He is good at hitting the ball cross-court with his forehand and he got so many winners from me.

About my Tennis

How did I feel about my body during the match?

It was ok, but I thought that I am going to practice on Astro in Eden Epson, but we had to play on hard court, and it doesn’t slide so my foot had a little bit of a hard time in the beginning.

What was my skill during the match?

I did the double second most of the time only when I am winning pretty far from him. My 1st serve was ok, it was consistent.

I like hitting forehand crosscourt and I used a lot of that to shake him around then finish it with the backhand crosscourt.

I wasn’t really able to get the timing and my strike when I am hitting a backhand down the line, but the backhand cross-court was really well.

I am so glad I practiced it because I got so many winners for the forehand volley crosscourt.

How did I feel about my mental health during the match?

There was up and down at the beginning of the first set, but at the end of 2nd set when it was 6-5 I found my game. In the 2nd set, the opponent was going downhill so all I had to do was get the ball in till he miss.

What was my confidence about during the match?

I was so happy when a floating ball came to my forehand because I can hit it fast to cross-court. I was also proud of my service, and I only did 2 double faults in the match, and I think my serve got so much better.

What was I worried about during the match?

I was scared when he did a drop shot because I know I can get it, but when I am running forward, I miss it a lot and I get scared about that.

Looking back on the match, if I could coach (advice) myself in the match, what would I like to convey?

I would say that he hits a good shot cross-court, so cover that at the beginning of the 1st set.
I would also say that when I hit a forehand crosscourt deep, I should go volley because I wait at the baseline and I give him time.

What do I want to improve and practice before the next game?

  1. I want to practice more hard smashes and volley.
  2. I want to get my 1st serve consistency up because my 2nd serve is good but my 1st serve is not that good yet.
  3. I want to check my backhand down the line again especially a ball that is coming from the adv side.
